Notice to Approved Examination Centres and Candidates entering for RHS Qualifications

Fees for Candidates effective for services provided or entries made
after 1st September 2007.

All fees are payable prior to confirmation of service or entry for the examination.

Any fees paid by candidates from outside the UK should be paid in pounds sterling and any bank charges are for the account of the candidate.

RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture

  • Per unit £35
  • Total for 2 units taken together £70
  • Retake per unit £35
  • The validity for taking the second unit lasts for 3 years from the entry for the first unit

RHS Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Horticulture

  • Per written module £45
  • Per Practical module £80
  • The validity for taking all the modules comprising a full certificate is 4 years from the entry for the first module.

RHS Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture

  • Per written module £45
  • Per Practical module £120
  • The validity for taking all the modules comprising a full certificate is 4 years from the entry for the first module.

Late Entries

  • RHSQ publishes annually and distributes to approved Examinations Centres the dates of entry for each examination for the following year
  • Entries submitted after the published final date for entries but before the final date for deferral will be charged an additional fee of £30 per unit or module
  • Any entry submitted after the deferral date will, in addition to the basic fee and the additional fee of £30, be charged a penalty of 100% of the basic unit or module fee. (Note: postponing entry to the next examination date would be a cheaper option)

Replacement Certificate (if lost, damaged or destroyed)

  • £20 including postage and packing. Please apply directly to the Examinations Officer, RHS Qualifications at the address below.

Past Papers

  • Past papers for examinations leading to the Qualifications listed above are available free of charge by downloading from the RHS website.
  • Hard copies printed and posted by RHSQ are available by prepayment to RHSQ Wisley at a price of £4 per unit or module including postage and packing.

Re-check and Re-mark

  • All prices per unit or per module
  • Clerical re-check £10
  • Re-mark by an RHS examiner £40
  • Re-mark and Report by an RHS Examiner £60
  • If a re-check or re-mark results in an upgrade of the result, the fee paid will be refunded.

Independent Appeal

  • If a candidate wishes to take his or her result to independent appeal after exhausting all previous processes of the RHSQ Appeals procedure, a fee of £200 is payable to start the independent appeals process. If the appeal is successful the fee paid will be refunded.

Invigilation of external candidates (Level 2 Certificate only)

  • Candidates who are unable to access the examination at their local centre should apply directly to the Examinations Officer, RHS Qualifications at the address below, to sit the examination in London, where an additional cost will be charged.

Masters (RHS) in Horticulture

  • The RHS flagship distance learning qualification comprises a total of 8 modules including a dissertation and is taken over a period of three years
  • RHS Qualifications offers an optional mentoring service to candidates for an additional fee
